Antiquorum | Monaco, Jul 21, 2021. Patek Philippe Nautilus "Olive Green dial" Ref. 5711/1A-014 sold for EUR 400'000

Perhaps, only a few do not talk about yesterday's Antiquorum Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces auction, which was held in Monaco at the Monte Carlo Hotel de Paris.

In particular, about lot number 152 - The factory sealed Patek Philippe Nautilus "Olive Green Dial" ref. 5711/1A-014 that went under the hammer for EUR 400'000, which is more than five times the estimated and ten times the retail price of the watch that was recently presented at the April Watches and Wonders 2021 show in Geneva.

At the moment, only a few, including celebrities and top stars, have had the chance to purchase Patek Philippe Nautilus "Green Dial" ref. 5711/1A-014, but the market is already in a speculative fever.

Needless to say, the ref. 5711/1A-014 is not a limited edition, but a regular one, the retail price of which is EUR 30'100.

Less than six months have passed since the blue dial model ref. 5711/1A-010 was discontinued, and barely three months after the presentation of the ref. 5711/1A-014 as the prices for both of these watch models have skyrocketed.

The "whales" of the watch industry talk a lot about protecting the interests of their collector customers and the measures taken to combat flippers, but in practice, it is just another bubble that does not burst for years as the prices keep growing.

It also turned out yesterday that on May 27th, one of the first Patek Philippe Nautilus "Olive Green Dial" ref. 5711/1A-014 watches was sold through the auctioneers based in the Middle East (Kuwait and UAE) for USD 332'000, and last Friday, on July 16th, it's sister-model ref. 5711/1300A, encrusted with baguette-diamonds, was sold for USD 582'000, while the European retail price is EUR 81'620. Yet it's only been three months since the presentation of the new collection.

At this rate, the 8-year queue for other models from the Nautilus collection will soon seem like a whim.
