Czapek & Cie Faubourg de Cracovie "Courage Every Second" Piece Unique for Only Watch 2019

For the few of you unfamiliar with the name, Only Watch is a charity auction that has been held biennially since 2005, with 100% of proceeds going to benefit research towards a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a genetic disorder that strikes children. Only Watch was started by Luc Pettavino after his son, Paul, was diagnosed with the disease and passed away in 2016 at the age of 21. Mr. Pettavino also was awarded with the Special Jury prize at the last edition of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. 

On Saturday November 9th, at the 2019 edition of Only Watch, conducted by Christie’s and held in Geneva, our Faubourg de Cracovie "Courage every second" chronograph was sold to a private collector for a hammer price of CHF 110,000 - about three times higher than the estimate of CHF 24,000-36,000!

Caliber SXH3: Haute Horlogerie integrated automatic chronograph movement with a bespoke execution by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier for Czapek. Column wheel, vertical clutch and linear hammer, COSC-certified. It delivers 65 hours of power reserve with a single barrel. The anthracite bridges are finely sandblasted and diamond polished bridges, the trottoirs are snailed.

The Faubourg de Cracovie Only Watch is based on COSC-certified, 5 Hz, integrated chronograph. This unique piece features a 5-grade titanium case with ADLC® coating and a magnificent black onyx dial offset by light blue chalcedony counters. The dial of the watch hosts the inscription “Courage every second”, the same sentence that was “secretly” engraved on the Grand-Feu enamel dial of the unique piece created by Czapek for Only Watch 2017.
