François-Paul Journe acquires a historic pocket watch by Abraham-Louis Breguet for the F.P.Journe Le Patrimoine museum
Geneva, November 11, 2025.
43 years ago, I completed my first tourbillon. I am proud to have won at auction the most beautiful tourbillon by Abraham-Louis Breguet, and to give his genius the recognition it deserves in the future F.P.Journe museum.” – François-Paul Journe.
Sold in 1809 to Count Alexis de Razoumoffsky, Minister under Tsar Alexander I, the No. 1890 combines two of Breguet’s major inventions: the tourbillon and the natural escapement. Only eight Breguet watches are known to unite these two complications.
Featured in The Art of Breguet by George Daniels, the No. 1890 will join the collection of the upcoming F.P.Journe Le Patrimoine museum, which aims to gather and preserve both the emblematic creations of François-Paul Journe and the historical timepieces that inspired them.
