Phillips sells Coppola’s unique F.P. Journe FFC prototype for $10.8M

Sale breaks world auction record for F.P.Journe and world auction record for a watch by an independent watchmaker. Wristwatch sells to anonymous buyer on the phone after 11 minutes of bidding.

The sale represents the highest result for a timepiece sold at auction in the US since Phillips’ sale of Paul Newman’s Rolex “Paul Newman” Daytona in 2017. Immediately after the sale of The FFC, Mr. Coppola’s F.P.Journe Chronomètre à Résonance achieved $584,200, nearly five times the low estimate.
