TEMPORIS International Awards 2024

The eleventh edition of the TEMPORIS International Awards (TIA) Gala, an event dedicated to the watch industry, is set to take place in Zurich on October 23, 2024. In a new venue promising the best edition event, the event will mark a new milestone in celebrating excellence and innovation in the world of global watchmaking.

It is with great pleasure to announce Zürich Convention Center as the new home of TEMPORIS International Awards. This year edition will mark the start of a new era in the more than a decade history of our global watchmaking awards. It is not only the venue but also about next level Gala show, new personalities in TIA Jury, a brand-new category and more… I want to thank Michel Loris-Melikoff for his enthusiasm and professionalism is putting in this one of kind cooperation. Also, I am humble for the great support of the City of Zurich in making this impressive approach. This is a long-term partnership, with many projects to be unfolded at the right time.` said Dan Vardie, Founder of the TEMPORIS International Awards Gala.

On his turn, Michel Loris-Melikoff, the CEO of Kongresshaus Zürich AG, said: `We are very pleased to welcome TEMPORIS International Award at Kongresshaus Zürich. Many watch enthusiasts live and enjoy Zurich. Therefore we look forward opening our unique venue for an event dedicated to highlight the best products in the watch industry worldwide. `

Opening of the second edition Watches & Wonders Masterpiece 2024, another first pioneered by TIA

Starting today, the Jury members are invited to submit their proposals for the final list of 10 great creations for the "Watches & Wonders Masterpiece 2024" award. After the votes of the Jury, watch enthusiasts from around the world can participate in the voting process to vote the winner watch.

This category aims to honour exceptional timepieces meticulously crafted by skilled artisans and featuring the best expression of haute horlogerie. The participating timepieces will be novelties presented exclusively at this year’s Watches & Wonders in Geneva. By participating in the public voting process, individuals will have the opportunity to contribute to the recognition of excellence in watchmaking and become eligible for a chance to win an invitation to the highly anticipated TEMPORIS International Awards.

New Inspirational Figures Join the Jury

In addition to the esteemed jury members, several inspirational figures have joined the TIA jury for the 2024 edition:

  • Jean-Claude Biver: A Luxembourg-born Swiss businessman and executive, Jean-Claude Biver is an iconic figure renowned for his significant contributions to the watchmaking industry. He previously served as the chief executive officer of Hublot, TAG Heuer and was the president of LVMH's watchmaking division from 2014 until 2018, before retiring after an illustrious 43-year career in the industry.
  • Jeff Dodds: Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds joins the esteemed jury panel for TEMPORIS Gala 2024. Known for his leadership in the world of electric racing, Jeff Dodds brings a unique perspective shaped by his passion for innovation and precision timing. As a seasoned collector of timepieces, his keen eye for detail and appreciation for craftsmanship will undoubtedly enrich the judging process.
  • Astrid Wendlandt: Renowned for her vast experience in the luxury industry, Astrid Wendlandt is the founder and editor-in-chief of Miss Tweed, an independent media specializing in fashion and luxury based in Paris. With over 15 years of dedicated coverage of the luxury sector, she brings a deep understanding of trends and innovations in haute horlogerie.
  • Fabienne Lupo: Formerly leading the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie and the SIHH ( Watches & Wonders) , Fabienne Lupo has transitioned to organizing a new event called ReLuxury, dedicated to pre-owned Luxury and circular economy . With her expertise and dedication, she now focuses on promoting circularity of fine watchmaking through this new venture.
  • Fanny Queloz: Recipient of the Veuve Clicquot Bold Future Award, Fanny Queloz is known for her resilience and leadership in the male-dominated world of watchmaking. Her background in professional horse jumping has instilled in her a spirit of determination and perseverance, qualities that have propelled her to success in the industry.
  • Xavier Dietlin: From professional footballer to entrepreneur, Xavier Dietlin's journey is one of resilience and creativity. He transformed his family construction business into a company that provides ingenious presentation cabinets for the watch industry. His innovative approach and keen eye for detail have made him a respected figure in the watch community.
  • Jean-Claude Eggen: As CEO of Manufacture La Joux-Perret, Jean-Claude Eggen brings extensive experience and expertise in watchmaking. Under his leadership, the manufacture has presented six new calibers, enjoying growing success in the industry. His comprehensive portfolio of modules and complete calibers showcases his commitment to excellence and innovation.
  • Giorgio Galli: An esteemed Italian watch designer, based in Milano, his design studio has been the birthplace of innovative timepieces for renowned brands such as Swatch, Citizen Watch, Ebel, and Seiko. With his wealth of experience and creative vision, Galli continues to shape the landscape of contemporary watch design.

The TEMPORIS International Awards Gala will showcase a captivating array of categories, each highlighting the pinnacle of craftsmanship and innovation in the world of haute horlogerie. From timeless classics to avant-garde designs, the categories for this year's gala include:

TEMPORIS International Awards Gala was founded by Dan Vardie, the visionary founder of TEMPORIS and President of the TEMPORIS Jury, in 2011. Vardie’s passion for fine watchmaking, a global perspective of the global watchmaking industry and his desire to create a platform to honor craftsmanship and innovation led to the inception of the awards. Collaborating with prestigious magazines from three continents and members of the TEMPORIS International independent network, Vardie developed the awards and voting process.

Every year, the TEMPORIS International Awards Gala recognizes award-winning brands and watches in various categories, with a deeply rooted contemporary vision of watchmaking. The TIA Awards winners are probably the best expressions of watches participating in our daily lives, from the normal work day till holidays and red carpet events.
