A. Lange & Sohne - Saxonia Outsize Date and Saxonia Moon Phase, Black Dials

A. Lange & Söhne expanded its Saxonia watch family with four new models: two Saxonia Outsize Date and two Saxonia Moon Phase, all with black dials matched to white or pink gold cases.

The Saxonia Outsize Date is powered by the self-winding calibre L086.1 featuring a large central rotor with an outer centrifugal mass in platinum. The maximum power reserve of 72 hours is achieved with only one mainspring barrel.

Framed by the classic round case (38.5 mm wide and 9.6 mm high), the display – a classic arrangement of two white discs with black numerals – sports a new design. In fact, the date discs of the precisely centred outsize date are here black and feature white printed numerals to match the black galvanised solid-silver dial with applied hour markers in solid gold.

The price of the A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Outsize Date, in white gold (ref. 381.029) or in pink gold (ref. 381.031), is Euro 24,500 (with German VAT).

The new Saxonia Moon Phase models are also enhanced by a black dial where the date numerals are white on a black background rather than vice-versa. The outsize date and the seconds subdial with the integrated moon-phase display are centred on the vertical axis, a layout which contributes to the elegance of the overall design.

The moon-phase display is decorated with 852 stars and calculated to remain accurate for 122.6 years. It is connected to the hour-wheel continuum and, just like the moon itself, constantly in motion.

As for the movement of the Outsize Date model, the Lange L086.5 manufacture calibre beats at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vph) with 72 hours of power reserve.

Available in a 40 mm x 9.8 mm white gold (ref. 384.029) or pink gold (ref. 384.031) case, the A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Moon Phase with black dial has a price of Euro 28,500 (with German VAT).

Both the L086.1 and L086.5 movements feature the signature three-quarter plate made of untreated German silver and the manually engraved balance cock with the characteristic whiplash spring for precision beat adjustments. alange-soehne.com
