Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronographs 38 mm Black Onyx Dial

Audemars Piguet is pleased to unveil two new versions of the Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph in 38 mm. Executed in a choice of 18-carat white or pink gold, with baguette-cut diamonds adorning the bezel and hour markers, these new Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronographs combine sportiness with precious materials for a glamourous look. Each model is fitted with a black onyx dial that provides the perfect background for the diamond hour-markers and for the chronograph counters that are framed by rings of gold matching the colour of the case. Lastly, each timepiece is equipped with the selfwinding chronograph Calibre 2385.

A natural black dial

These two new references combining gold, baguette-cut diamonds and onyx, expand the Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph 38 mm range that was first unveiled by the Manufacture in 2019. Both the 18- carat white gold and pink gold cases and bracelets feature alternating polished and satin-finished surfaces that are the signature of Audemars Piguet.

Black onyx dials provide the perfect deep black backdrop for the dial with its baguette-cut diamond hour-markers, gold hands filled with luminescent coating and chronograph counters that are framed with gold-toned rings matching the colour of the case. For those interested in the beneficial properties of natural gemstones, black onyx is the stone of happiness, good fortune and strength. It is often favoured by athletes and sportsmen and women, making it a fitting choice for this selfwinding chronograph. In terms of its chemical properties, black onyx is a variety of silicate layered chalcedony composed of microcrystalline quartz. The case houses selfwinding Calibre 2385 with the following functions: chronograph, hours, minutes, small seconds and date.

Baguette-cut diamonds channel elegance and gemsetting savoir-faire

The baguette-cut diamonds adorning these two new Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronographs have been carefully selected to respond to the manufacture’s highest criteria in terms of clarity, cut and colour. They have been individually polished to reach clear and sharp angles before being closed set by hand. The quality of the stones’ cut is as important as their inherent quality and clarity. Each baguette not only needs to be internally flawless (i.e. no visible inclusions under 10x magnification), its lines and stepped facets have to be perfectly symmetrical and aligned.
