Slimmer design: Alpine Eagle purity in an ultra-thin case

The Alpine Eagle 41 XPS continues the collection’s sporty aesthetic while benefiting from the elegance of an ultra-thin case. Crafted from Lucent Steel™, this model measures 41 mm in diameter and just 8 mm in thickness. The pared-down architecture allows for a broader opening onto the dial. It adopts a “Mountain Glow” shade, whose subtle champagne nuance replicates the warm reflections cast by the rising sun as it sweeps across freshly fallen snow covering the high peaks. Bright and understated, this colour enriches the palette of natural tones that evoke the beauty of Alpine landscapes. The radiating pattern, reminiscent of an eagle's iris, adds depth and vitality to the dial, while the hands, numerals and hour-markers in ethical white gold are coated with Grade X1 Super-LumiNova® to ensure optimal legibility in all conditions.

Calibre L.U.C 96.40-L: an ultra-thin, high-precision movement

Beating at the heart of the watch is the L.U.C Calibre 96.40-L, a direct evolution of the very first movement developed by the Manufacture in 1996. Measuring just 3.30 mm thick, this ultra-thin self-winding small seconds movement is equipped with an off-centre micro-rotor in 22-carat ethical gold whose high inertia ensures efficient winding of the two stacked barrels using Chopard Twin technology. This construction enables a 65-hour power reserve while maintaining a remarkably slim profile. The movement is chronometer-certified, attesting to its precision, incorporating a stop-seconds function and a swan’s-neck regulator enabling extremely fine adjustment of the movement's rate by adjusting the active length of the balance spring. Every visible component is polished, smoothed or chamfered using traditional methods, while the bridges are decorated with Côtes de Genève, hand-bevelled and circular-grained on the mainplate side in accordance with Poinçon de Genève requirements.

Poinçon de Genève: excellence in finishing

This creation is distinguished by the Poinçon de Genève, one the oldest and strictest hallmarks in Swiss watchmaking. It guarantees not only the aesthetic and technical quality of the movement, but also that of the entire timepiece, including the case. It is exceptional for a steel watch to obtain this certification, as the finishing criteria require a level of polishing and bevelling that is particularly difficult to achieve on this material. The distinctive shine of Lucent Steel™, stemming from its unique molecular structure, lends the timepiece and additional touch of refinement. A redesigned bracelet ensuring comfort, ergonomics and elegance

The signature Lucent Steel™ bracelet has been subtly reworked to provide a slimmer profile and enhanced ergonomics. The first five links are more distinctly tapered, while those surrounding the clasp are thinner than in previous models, thus creating a fluid, contemporary line that accentuates the watch's overall slimness. First introduced in 2025 on the Alpine Eagle 41 XP CS Platinum model, this aesthetic evolution is accompanied by the introduction of a comfort-fit extension system integrated into the triple folding clasp. By simply pulling and then pushing back the link adjacent to the clasp, the bracelet can be extended by 2.5 mm to 5 mm, thereby enabling instant adjustment according to temperature, activity or natural wrist movements. As part of a continuous improvement approach, this innovation reflects Chopard's desire to combine mechanical sophistication with everyday comfort.

The Alpine Eagle collection: reinterpreting an icon

Forty-five years ago, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele persuaded his father, Karl, to create a sporty steel watch that embodied the lifestyle of St. Moritz. The eponymous collection was born in 1980. In a remarkable echo of history, Karl-Fritz, representing the family’s third generation, became captivated by a St. Moritz watch he discovered on his father Karl-Friedrich’s desk, and convinced him to revive this emblem of its era. This modern reinterpretation is the result of a collaborative endeavour spanning three generations. The Alpine Eagle collection reflects Chopard’s values, uniting technical ingenuity, artisanal excellence and a strong family spirit.
