Chopard L.U.C 1860 Flying Tourbillon in Yellow Gold
Twenty-five years after the first model in the L.U.C collection, Chopard houses its innovative flying tourbillon Calibre L.U.C 96.24-L in the ultra-thin case of its first L.U.C 1860 watch. In doing so, the Maison preserves the optimal proportions of its historical model with a 36.5 mm diameter and measuring only 8.2 mm thick. The new L.U.C 1860 Flying Tourbillon model is crafted in ethical 18-carat yellow gold and features an elegant hand-guilloché dial in 18-carat yellow gold. The transparent case-back enabling a view of its unique movement is protected by an elegant cover carefully engraved on the inside with a unique beehive motif . Chopard is the only Manufacture whose flying tourbillon watches are both chronometer-certified and bear the Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark: the L.U.C 1860 Flying Tourbillon model belongs to this category of rare timepieces. It is issued in an exclusive 10-piece limited series.
With the L.U.C 1860 Flying Tourbillon timepiece, the Manufacture delivers a new example of its ability to orchestrate the encounter between technical innovation and traditional craftsmanship while staying true to the legacy of Louis-Ulysse Chopard.
Crafted in ethical 18-carat yellow gold, this model stands out for its harmonious and elegant proportions, with a diameter of 36.5 mm and measuring only 8.2 mm thick. The feat of fitting Chopard's flying tourbillon calibre inside a L.U.C 1860 case is achieved while preserving the extreme thinness of the watch. Its diameter also makes it the smallest flying tourbillon watch on the market.
Its 18-carat gold dial features a delicately hand-guilloché center with a basket-weave pattern, adding a touch of subtle sophistication to the design, a signature of the L.U.C collection characterised by its sleek aesthetics and technical sophistication. As it undergoes no treatment, it displays the natural colour of yellow gold, in perfect chromatic harmony with the case.
The transparent case-back is protected by a thin cover whose inner surface is hand-engraved with a beehive motif. On each of the ten models in this limited edition, a "25 years" engraving commemorates the collection’s 25th anniversary, while bees are randomly positioned around the hive, making each model truly unique. Worker bees representing essential contributors to the overall success of a structure that endures through cooperation and hard work, this bee motif is a nod to the functioning of a Manufacture. The founder Louis-Ulysse Chopard personally chose this symbol as a trademark adorning the pocket watches made in his workshops, thus establishing the Maison’s first-ever logo. The L.U.C 1860 Flying Tourbillon model perpetuates this history, a symbol of constant evolution and respect for traditions.
Thanks to its meticulous finishing, the watch bears the Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark attesting to the craftsmanship of the timepieces assembled in the canton of Geneva. It is also the only Poinçon de Genève watch with a flying tourbillon beating at a frequency of 3.5 Hz to receive chronometer certification.
Powered by L.U.C Calibre 96.24-L, this self-winding watch is equipped with the Maison's innovative flying tourbillon, stemming from the developments of the first L.U.C Calibre 96.01-L. Introduced in 2019, this movement has since equipped limited editions of L.U.C Flying T Twin timepieces. It benefits from the Twin Technology's dual barrels and is wound by a 22-carat gold micro-rotor, enabling a 65-hour power reserve. Made of 189 components, L.U.C Calibre 96.24-L is the result of exceptional craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail.
