Chopard L.U.C Quattro Revolution Re-edition

Revolution magazine is pleased to present their latest collaboration: Chopard L.U.C Quattro Revolution Re-edition, a 20-piece limited edition that returns one of Chopard's most important technical watches to its roots.

At the heart of the new timepiece is Chopard's celebrated L.U.C 98.01-L Quattro caliber, a hand-wound movement powered by four barrels arranged in two stacked pairs, delivering an exceptional 216 hours, or nine days, of power reserve.

It was first unveiled in 2000 in the Chopard L.U.C Quattro Reference 16/1863, one of the earliest wristwatches to offer more than a week of autonomy.

This feat was achieved in a remarkably elegant format: 38mm in diameter and 9.54mm thick. These poised proportions are now faithfully revived in our new edition.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the Quattro, Chopard launched the stunning Mark IV Quattro in 2025. But about a year before, our discussions on the resurrection of the original Ref. 16/1863 Chopard L.U.C Quattro from 2000 had already begun in earnest.

For Revolution founder Wei Koh, the project began with a simple question: has the original Quattro design, grown even more relevant with time, like the 1860 before it?

Over the past seven years, Revolution has had the extraordinary privilege to collaborate with Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, his son Karl-Fritz and their team on a series of L.U.C 1860 watches — a 10-piece revival of the L.U.C 1860 in 36.5mm, a five-piece 1860 Flying T, and later the 1860 Revolution Edition in Lucent Steel with an untreated gold dial.

Both Mr. Scheufele and Wei thought it could work beautifully. The answer became clear when the first prototype was presented. As Wei summed up, it was 'simply stunning to behold.'

Like the 1860 Revolution Edition, our new watch came in the stunning combination of Lucent Steel for the case and pure untreated 3N yellow gold for the dial. One key distinction of the new watch is the elevation in the quality of the Metalem dials.

While the original dials already represented the very best in the industry at the time, Mr Scheufele's passion for safeguarding artisanal crafts had allowed his artisans who specialize in guilloché and vintage engine-turning machines to improve and enhance their skills.

The solid 3N gold dial displays amazing three-dimensional depth. Look at the 'filet sautant' — the decorative circular line that separates the central guilloché pattern from the area where the kite-shaped, applied indexes with faceted, mirror-polished finish sit. This pattern reappears on either side of the chemin de fer for the minutes.

The result is three luminous halos that radiate outward from the center of the dial, like transcendent ripples emerging from a pool of pure gold.

In keeping with the original Quattro configuration, the power-reserve indicator returns to 12 o'clock on the dial. Special attention has been paid to the depth and legibility of this display, including a laser-engraved threedimensional hashmark showing when one day of power remains.

As this timepiece uses the original L.U.C. 1.98, namely the 98.01-L, it features one additional day of power reserve on the indicator for a total of nine days.

The movement is beautifully finished. Its two sets of barrels are covered by a large bridge that occupies about half of the movement's visible architecture.

A second bridge secures the gear train, including the escape wheel, distinguished by its gold shock absorber seated in a mirror-polished countersink at 6 o'clock. Engraved on this bridge is the Geneva Seal.

The balance cock, with its stunning black-polished, steel swan-neck regulator completes the optically seductive triumvirate.. All three of these feature lavish Côtes de Genève beveling.

The Chopard L.U.C Quattro Revolution Re-edition is made in just 20 examples and priced at CHF32,500, excluding taxes.
