Glashütte Original - Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition

Introduced by Glashütte Original last year, the Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar is equipped with an ingenious self-winding movement, the Calibre 36, defining new standards in terms of precision, stability and running time.

At Baselworld 2018, Glashütte Original is now presenting the Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition, expressly designed to reveal the beauty and the architecture of this movement.

The skeletonized dial of this exclusive edition offers deep insights into the mechanism while lending a contemporary appearance to the watch.

The central cut-out shifts the centre of attention to the technical aspects of the galvanic grey module cover plate, whose openings reveal the interplay of the calendar discs. An elaborate guilloché decoration adorns the movement's cover plate, its sweeping lines broken only by individual red jewels. The guilloché decoration is crafted by hand in the watchmaker's own dial manufactory in Pforzheim.

In the process, traditional engine turning machines are used to incise finely drawn geometric figures in the dial. Depending on how the light falls on the dial, the shimmering pattern takes on a very different appearance.

Along with hours, minutes and seconds, this model displays, the day of the week, month, moon phase and leap year – all the while taking the lengths of the different months into account.

Not a standard date, the Panorama Date is displayed using large-format numerals on the same plane and without using a vertical separation bar. The moon phase representation is enriched by silver stars which are set off against the dark blue night sky.

Various blue accents contribute to the character of the watch: blued hands, the galvanic blue night sky of the moon phase display, the printed blue minute numerals on the railroad chapter ring, the leap year indicator, and the dark blue Louisiana alligator leather strap.

The matte grey outer ring with rhodium plated and polished index appliques is framed by a classical 42 mm round case which offers water resistance to 50 metres / 165 feet.

Through the sapphire crystal on the back of the watch, it is possible to admire the beautifully finished 36-02 automatic movement, which features a power reserve of at least 100 hours.

All models in the Senator Excellence family come with an exclusive certificate confirming that each timepiece has been thoroughly tested for 24 days in Saxon manufactory. An exclusive online portal also provides each watch's owner access to comprehensive information regarding the various testing procedures, together with comprehensive test results for the watch.

Produced in just 100 pieces, the Glashütte Original Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition has a price of Euro 32,900 with a leather strap secured by a white gold buckle or Euro 35,000 if equipped with a white gold fading clasp. glashuette-original.com
