Glashütte Senator Chronograph - Capital Edition

On occasion of the 68th Berlinale (the German brand has been an official partner of the renowned Berlin International Film Festival since 2011), Glashütte Original is presenting a special edition of its Senator Chronograph Panorama Date.

The new Senator Chronograph Capital Edition will be available in a stainless steel edition of 100, a red gold version limited to 25 pieces as well as in 5 exclusive pieces in platinum. All models come in 42 mm cases alternating polished and satin-brushed surfaces.

The in-house produced dials feature especially developed hues: “Bourbon Grey” with deep blue totalizers for the models in stainless steel or red gold, and “Dry Silver” with light blue totalizers for the platinum version.

Green Super-LumiNova is used for the white gold hour, minute and stop seconds hands, the XII and VI Roman numerals, and the hour indexes. The result is excellent legibility in any light conditions.

The characteristic Glashütte Original Panorama Date takes central stage at 6 o'clock, while the power reserve display is set discreetly within the small seconds.

The manufactory Calibre 37-01 chronograph movement offers a fully integrated, compact construction with flyback mechanism. The chronograph start and stop functions are activated by the pusher at the upper right side of the case, the flyback mechanism by the pusher at the lower right. Pressing the flyback pusher halts the on-going chronographic time measurement and the chronograph hour, minute and second hands jump back to zero. The time measurement does not stop, however, but rather begins immediately a new measurement as soon as the flyback pusher is released.

Precisely beating at 28,000 vibration per hour (4Hz), this automatic movement offers a power reserve of 70 hours when fully wound, a remarkable result for a mechanical chronograph. In order to keep the performance and amplitude stable over the entire period of time, a new oscillation system with low energy requirements was developed, effectively governed by a single spring barrel.

The sapphire crystal case back reveals all the classic features of a Glashütte watch, including the characteristic three-quarter plate, the screw balance with four adjustment screws, the swan-neck fine adjustment and the skeletonized rotor with its 21-carat gold oscillating mass.

The Senator Chronograph Capital Edition can be matched to a brown or blue calfskin strap with white stitching or, in case of the stainless steel version, to a metal bracelet featuring a patented 8-step fine adjustment mechanism which guarantees optimal comfort for the wearer.

The red gold and platinum versions of the Senator Chronograph Capital Edition come in a special collector’s box, in which an additional strap will be included.

Indicative prices for the new Senator Chronograph Capital Edition are Euro 13,500 in steel with strap, Euro 14,700 in steel with metal bracelet, Euro 29,500 in red gold and Euro 55,000 in platinum. glashuette-original.com
