Grand Seiko Evolution 9 Collection The Tentagraph SLGC006
A mechanical chronograph that imparts the spirit of Mt. Iwate reflecting the morning sunrise.
This mechanical chronograph, which has been created in the Evolution 9 Style, takes the fusion of Grand Seiko’s spirit with the aesthetic sensibilities of Japan to a high level. The dial pattern is reminiscent of Mt. Iwate, the peak visible from Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, where Grand Seiko’s mechanical watches are manufactured. Its copper-pink color exudes a dignified presence as if bathed in morning sunlight.
Powered by the Caliber 9SC5, a chronograph movement vibrating at 10 beats per second, this creation operates continuously for up to about 72 hours (about 3 days) when fully wound.
A striking dial pattern that evokes Mt. Iwate
Mt. Iwate is thought to have been formed around 700,000 years ago and has been one of the most active volcanoes in all of Japan, a country with more than 100 active volcanoes. One can sense the history of this soaring peak from its rough surface, etched by the traces of lava flows that extend along the north side. The striking radial dial pattern is inspired by a bird’s-eye view of Mt. Iwate’s ridge line.
High legibility, a hallmark of Evolution 9 Style
The space between the hands and the dial and indexes has been reduced as much as possible, allowing the wearer to see the time at a glance, even on a chronograph that displays a wealth of information. The date display, placed between the four and five o’clock positions, allows all twelve indexes to be placed in a way that ensures maximum legibility of the sub-dials.
Features of the Tentagraph Caliber 9SC5
The Tentagraph’s name describes key features of the Caliber 9SC5 movement inside: Ten beats per second, three days of power reserve, automatic winding, and chronograph. Fully wound, the watch runs for 72 hours even with the chronograph in operation.
In 2023, Grand Seiko's first mechanical chronograph, the Tentagraph, was born
The Tentagraph's name describes the characteristics of the Caliber 9SC5 that powers this watch: "TEN beats per second", "Three days of power reserve", "Automatic," and "chronoGRAPH. A high-beat chronograph that symbolizes the next generation of Grand Seiko watchmaking, the Tentagraph Caliber 9SC5 has 72 hours of power reserve (approximately 3 days) even when the chronograph function is in operation, making it the ten-beat chronograph with the longest power reserve in the industry today. *

The First Grand Seiko Mechanical Chronograph Ever Created
Its birthplace was the Grand Seiko facility in Shizukuishi, where, for many decades, craftsmen and women have been responsible for the design and manufacture of all Grand Seiko mechanical watches. It was here, too, that the first 9S movement had been created.
The designers, engineers and watchmakers at the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi have two important assets at their disposal. First, they have inherited the tradition and accumulated know-how that has been built over decades as Grand Seiko has pursued its aim of “unflagging practical innovation” at the very highest level of the horological industry. Second, as a fully integrated “manufacture,” Grand Seiko has mastery of every aspect of the watchmaker’s art and has complete in-house control over every technical aspect of every single movement component.
Caliber 9SC5 is the direct result of the synergy of these two important assets, as its advanced functionality and its exquisite craftsmanship bear powerful testament.
