What’s a birthday without a special gift to mark it?! To celebrate the 24th anniversary of WorldTempus’ parent company, GMT Publishing, GMT has teamed up with H. Moser & Cie. – the independent Swiss watchmaker renowned for its refined, minimalist designs and in-house manufacturing prowess. Together, they have created a remarkable addition to the GMT Fine Watch Club’s exclusive series of collaborative timepieces: the Pioneer Dual Time Limited Edition.

Conceived in partnership with GMT founder and WorldTempus director Brice Lechevalier, this 24-piece series skilfully blends elements from the Schaffhausen-based brand’s Heritage, Pioneer and Streamliner collections bringing them together for the first time in a single, exceptional timepiece.

The result is an eye-catching, versatile dual-time watch that showcases Moser’s craftsmanship while capturing GMT’s adventurous spirit – sure to appeal to GMT Fine Watch Club members and watch collectors around the globe.

Just after GMT Publishing launched 24 years ago, Brice and I got to know each other, and we said one day, we’d do a limited edition together,” says H. Moser & Cie. CEO Edouard Meylan. “I think now is the right time. It’s a great way to celebrate together. Congratulations on 24 years and everything GMT has done for the watch industry!”

A Dial to Die For

One standout feature of this Pioneer Dual Time is its ‘Matrix’ green fumé dial, previously seen only in Moser’s Streamliner range. The gradient shifts from light to dark, providing a rich backdrop for the sword hands and three-dimensional Arabic numerals. And these aren’t your usual luminescent markers – Moser uses Globolight, a Super-LumiNova-infused ceramic, for a bright, long-lasting glow.

A neatly integrated date window sits at 6 o’clock, while a vivid orange GMT hand allows for simultaneous reading of a second time zone alongside the local time.

Moser’s approach to the dual-time complication, powered here by the automatic in-house Calibre HMC 809 with three-day power reserve, prioritises discretion: When the GMT function isn’t needed, the second hour hand tucks behind the primary hour hand for a clean, simplified look.

Until now, we have used these hands and Arabic numerals exclusively in our Heritage collection,” explains Meylan. “So there’s a bit of a vintage look to the watch. I think it works well because of the dual-time complication we're using.”

He adds: “It’s only the second time ever we’ve used this complication. And what’s very cool is when you don’t need it, you can then hide it under the local hour hand. And I think that’s the philosophy of Moser: Let’s make any watch look like a three-hand watch’.”

From Classic to Casual

The dial and movement are housed in a sleek 42.8mm stainless-steel case with ribbed, recessed flanks and 120-metre water resistance, a hallmark of Moser’s Pioneer line. It is this case choice that ultimately classifies this unique blend of elements as a Pioneer watch.

In a first for H. Moser & Cie., this Pioneer Dual Time comes with a unique pairing of two interchangeable straps: one in brown calfskin and one in orange rubber. This distinctive choice of straps enhances the watch’s adaptability, making it an ideal companion for any setting.

What I like about the Pioneer collection in general and in particular with this watch is how versatile it is. It can be a very nice evening watch, but it can be a very cool go-to-the-beach kind of watch as well,” says Meylan. “You can go swimming with it too. That's why I particularly like the orange rubber strap. It's very comfortable and gives it a completely different look.”

A Fitting Tribute

Since its launch in 2019, the GMT Fine Watch Club has built a reputation for offering its members – and all watch enthusiasts for that matter – exciting collaborative limited editions. The Pioneer Dual Time splendidly continues this tradition. 

Priced at CHF 22,900 and limited to just 24 pieces, each engraved with “1 of 24,” it is a veritable collector’s piece from the outset – and a fitting tribute to mark GMT’s milestone.
