Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Year of the Horse Frosted Carbon
To celebrate the Year of the Horse, Hublot introduces a limited edition that pushes the boundaries of its material innovation: the Spirit of Big Bang Frosted Carbon, limited to 88 pieces. The timepiece showcases carbon like never before: sculpted, layered and finished entirely by hand to form a dial marquetry. A technical statement fusing Hublot innovation, precision, engineering and the cultural strength of the Dragon-Horse spirit.
This creation embodies our drive to innovate beyond convention. With the Spirit of Big Bang Year of the Horse, we turn carbon and gold into sculpted art and symbolism into engineering precision. We master materials the way we master time, in a limitless way”, stated Hublot CEO, Julien Tornare.
The Dragon-Horse Spirit
In Chinese culture, the horse symbolizes ambition, endurance and forward momentum. The dial, inspired by Tang-dynasty artistry, depicts a high-spirited, flower-dappled horse outlined in gold, its main caught in motion. The Dragon-Horse spirit embodies Hublot's own philosophy: always moving forward, never standing still. The energy of the horse mirrors the power of the watch: force, speed and precision running in rhythm with the MHUB1710 movement.
When Carbon Becomes Art
Hublot turns carbon, one of its high-performance materials, into a visual signature. The dial combines hand-laid carbon marquetry with 3N gold-plated brass appliqués forming a horse motif. Every carbon fragment is cut, aligned and assembled by hand, demonstrating total control over one of the most demanding materials in modern watchmaking. The 3-dimensional gold lines, inspired by the embroidery of ancient Chinese ceremonial robes, give the horse a powerful presence. The 42 mm tonneau-shaped case is crafted in matte black carbon. A black lacquer base amplifies contrast and depth, while the smoked sapphire caseback and black calf-rubber strap reinforce the watch's assertive identity.
Power in Motion
Inside the Spirit of Big Bang Year of the Horse beats the HUB1710, a reliable and high-performance automatic mechanical movement. Offering a power reserve of approximately 50 hours, this robust calibre ensures consistent precision and dependable autonomy. The piece combines carbon marquetry, gold detailing and a lacquer finishing. Since 2016 Hublot has been commemorating the Lunar New Year, expressing its fusion of tradition and modernity. This Year of the Horse edition continues that tradition with a creation engineered to perform and built to lead, with the spirit of the horse flowing from the dial to the watch box.
