Isotope Moonshot Chronograph Thunderclap
Isotope introduces the Moonshot Chronograph “Thunderclap”. A limited edition of 30 pieces featuring the brand’s first telemeter scale.
London, UK — Isotope Watches proudly unveils the Moonshot Chronograph Thunderclap, a bold new interpretation of its signature chronograph platform. Limited to just 30 pieces worldwide, Thunderclap combines proven Moonshot architecture with a striking new aesthetic direction and a historic first for the brand: the introduction of a telemeter scale.
A sudden flash. A rolling echo. A bolt of color against a brooding sky. Thunderclap captures that energy in mechanical form.
This special edition marks a collaboration with Matt, known to many as Teenage Grandpa, whose fearless visual language and instinct for the unexpected make him a natural partner in reinterpreting the Moonshot.
The first time I met Matt, I was immediately struck by his energy, sharp mind, and design originality. He had a genuine connection with the Moonshot, which led me to invite him to create his own interpretation of it. The result is bold and unexpected, a version that could only come from the mind of Teenage Grandpa.” José Miranda, Co-Founder, Isotope
The result is Thunderclap: familiar in architecture, entirely new in attitude.
A Storm in Grey and Purple
At its core, Thunderclap retains the full technical specification of the original Moonshot, while presenting a distinctly new visual identity.
The case is crafted from sandblasted Grade 5 titanium and presented without a DLC coating, allowing the metal's natural character to take center stage. Clean, purposeful, and honest.
The dial introduces a dramatic interplay of texture and color:
-
A grey embossed dimple dial, evoking charged storm clouds
-
Metallic purple Moondisc sub-dials, shimmering with shifting light
-
Matching purple chronograph pushers, delivering a vivid jolt of color at the case flank
The effect is industrial yet electric, understated at first glance, explosive on closer inspection.
Introducing the Telemeter Scale
Thunderclap is a milestone for Isotope as the brand’s first chronograph to feature a telemeter scale.
Historically used to measure the distance between a visible event and the sound it produces, such as lightning and thunder, the telemeter allows the wearer to calculate how far away a storm is by timing the interval between the flash and the sound. A scale born from science, speed, and instinct, it is perfectly suited to a watch named Thunderclap. Function meets storytelling. Precision meets poetry.
Proven Moonshot Architecture
Thunderclap maintains all the core specifications and technical performance that define the Moonshot platform:
-
Identical case dimensions and construction
-
The same chronograph movement architecture
-
100m water resistance
-
Meticulous finishing throughout
Everything that defines the Moonshot remains intact; only the visual language has shifted.
Pricing & Configuration
The Moonshot Thunderclap is available in two configurations:

-
