Jaquet Droz - Grande Seconde Ceramic

One of Jaquet Droz’s most iconic model, the Grande Seconde, has been re-imagined in a new white ceramic version and two black versions with a “clous de Paris” dial decoration.

The two sub-dials of the new Grande Seconde Ceramic combine Roman and Arabic numerals and intersect to create the figure 8, the symbol of Jaquet Droz. All around them, a guilloché decoration - entailing a series of geometric engravings which recall small pyramidal nails - enhances the character of the watch.

All models come in 44 mm cases made in scratch-resistant ceramic, a material which maintains its luster and colour over time.

Inside, the manufacture self-winding movement Calibre 2663A-S beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and features a double barrel delivering a power reserve of 68 hours.

The Grande Seconde Power Reserve Black Ceramic model displays this feature via a golden-colour scale which well harmonizes with the 18K red gold hours, minutes and seconds hands.

The new watches are matched to fabric straps which bring to mind the “clous de Paris” motif of the dial.

Each of the three models will be produced in just 28 pieces, authenticated by an individual number engraved on the case back. Prices: Swiss Francs 15,050 for the Grande Seconde Ceramic, black or white, and Swiss Francs 17,300 for the Grande Seconde Power Reserve Black Ceramic. jaquetdroz.com
