Venus – a symbolic image of Venus, translated into the language of the signature Joker indication. The idea for such a watch came to Konstantin Chaykin back in 2018, shortly after the appearance of the very first Joker, the progenitor of the iconic anthropomorphic Wristmon collection.
At that time the master conceived the Matryoshka model, in which the central theme was to be a female character and the key feature a patented spherical moon-phase indicator. However, this concept was never brought to life and remained in the form of sketches.
In June 2023, while reviewing archival sketches, Konstantin Chaykin returned to this idea and saw its unrealised potential. Keeping the moon-phase indication as a key element of the architecture of the watch, he changed the main heroine: the starting point of inspiration became Venus, revered in Roman mythology as the goddess of love, fertility and prosperity. This marked the beginning of work on the Venus Wristmon.
The appearance of this watch primarily evokes associations with Sandro Botticelli’s famous painting The Birth of Venus. The plot of the painting tells of the goddess emerging from sea foam, capturing the moment when the abstract idea of beauty takes shape.
The dial as a work of art
The dial of Venus differs markedly from most other Konstantin Chaykin Wristmons. It is executed in a minimalist style, which only enhances its emotional impact. In the master’s interpretation, Venus literally becomes moon-faced: the moon-phase display turns into a face drawn with just a few strokes in the spirit of Pablo Picasso. The two-tone indicators traditionally show the time: hours on the left, minutes on the right.
The female silhouette fills the entire dial, which is coated with a warm orange-pink lacquer. The background of the moon disk is rendered in the same tone, while the lunar shadow is executed in dark blue. The goddess’s face is applied to the inner side of the sapphire crystal. Her hair is “drawn” with a wavy guilloché relief pattern that radiates towards the edges. The finishing touch is the manufacture’s logo in the form of a pendant on her neck.
Pure lines of the moon-faced Venus silhouette
The case construction of the Venus watch differs from the classic Wristmons. The first thing that stands out is the smooth, narrow bezel. This solution is dictated by ergonomics: to preserve the easy legibility of the dial and the proportions of the figure, it was made slenderer and the usual relief decoration was abandoned.
The Joker-indication module has also been completely reworked. The moon-phase display, which in other Wristmons plays the role of a smile, here becomes the face of Venus, so the disk is made larger and makes a full rotation in 29.5 days instead of the usual 59.
Another notable difference from the traditional Wristmon design is the absence of a second, corrector crown: in Venus only a single crown at three o’clock remains, which supports the integrity of the feminine silhouette on the dial.
The Venus watch is powered by the automatic calibre K.18-25, which uses a modified G200 movement from the Swiss manufacture La Joux-Perret – chosen for its stable rate, reliable balance construction and substantial 68-hour power reserve. On this base movement sits a Joker-indication module fully developed by the Konstantin Chaykin Manufacture and produced in accordance with the standards of haute horlogerie.
Venus at a charity auction
The long-running LILT for Women – Nastro Rosa campaign, held every year by LILT Milano Monza Brianza, is dedicated to breast cancer prevention and to supporting women facing this disease. It includes dozens of initiatives – from free screenings to charity projects and auctions. In 2025 GMT Milano and the Konstantin Chaykin Manufacture joined the campaign: on 11 December, the day of the official release of the Venus model, a working prototype of this watch will be offered at the LILT charity auction. All proceeds raised in the course of the auction will be directed to LILT Milano for the purchase of an Esaote X90 ultrasound device for units involved in the early diagnosis of breast cancer.
