Moritz Grossmann Tremblage Green
Traditional craftsmanship with modern appeal: for the Tremblage Green model featuring a hand-engraved dial, Moritz Grossmann is adopting a deep shade of colour and refreshing its collection with a touch of spring.
Green is a colour of almost unsurpassed significance. It stands for nature and renewal, making it the perfect shade for spring. What’s more, green also stands for harmony and hope, for depth, character and concentration. The colour has recently enjoyed success on watch dials, although Moritz Grossmann is not following the trend and has instead developed an entirely new interpretation. The green on the new Tremblage watch is an exceedingly individual nuance offering subtlety, complexity and even meditativeness. A colour that does not seek to stand out, but rather lingers and reflects the manufactory’s approach perfectly. Substance over show; material over outward appearance.
The art of engineering and assembling movements as well as manufacturing and decorating watches has a tradition going back centuries. It is a history which lays the foundation for a genuine watch manufactory like Moritz Grossmann. Be that as it may, the manufactory still faces the challenge of creating watches that are relevant for the present day whilst preserving the heritage of the craft.
With the new Tremblage Green, Moritz Grossmann has once again met the challenge. This watch is one that foregrounds the legacy of an ancient art: engraving. The dial has been designed using the historical technique of tremblage, an exceptional type of engraving that borders on forgotten these days. The new model comes in rose gold and white gold cases, each of which is limited to eight watches.
Perfect aesthetics in a new colour
The dial on the Tremblage Green was formed out of German silver and, in keeping with the time-honoured tradition, worked by hand using a variety of burins. The result of that handiwork is a fine, even grain which softens the incident light and makes the tremblage surface appear beautifully matt.
The effect is further reinforced through Moritz Grossmann’s use of colour to showcase the engraving technique, with the hand-crafted surface being finished in a shade of green that features depth and a timeless appearance. Combined with the classic Moritz Grossmann case in rose gold or white gold, the resulting style is subtle and vintage. The dial’s three-dimensionality highlights that, too: the hour numerals and small seconds circle propel from the surface, though no less so than the historic ‘M. Grossmann’ logo dating from 1875; this logo goes back to the key Glashütte watch pioneer and manufactory namesake, Moritz Grossmann.
All scales, numerals and writing have a fine, brushed finish. Circling the dial are the classic Moritz Grossmann Benu hands which are made and polished by hand at the manufactory. For the rose gold version, the hands are likewise made out of rose gold while the model with the white gold case comes with crafted hands made of polished steel.
The finest mechanics the manufactory has to offer
The numerous details of the Tremblage Green have a fascinating, pure aesthetic. At Moritz Grossmann, these same standards are applied to the watch’s internals, too – the movement. The Tremblage Green features hand-wound calibre 100.1, exposed in its full beauty through the glass case back.
All components are finished by hand. The beholder’s attention is immediately commanded by the Glashütte ribbing with four wide stripes. The surrounding edges are bevelled by hand and ensure shimmering accents with their polished surfaces. The movement is signed with cursive lettering reading ‘Moritz Grossmann Glashütte i/SA’.
Case made of rose gold or white gold
The case made of 750/000 rose gold or white, worn on a dark brown strap made of hand-stitched alligator leather, shelters the elaborate manufacture calibre in the Tremblage Green fittingly.
