ochs und junior due ore raw with oj blue 39mm and 42mm

the ochs line two time zones / due ore raw

ochs und junior reveals the latest member of the ochs line. This is a different take on the first two time zones / due ore ochs line watch launched last year in oj blue. This new due ore has a raw silver finish. Like the settimana raw or the Fifth Wrist settimana special edition, the dial and the second time zone disc of this ochs line watch comes directly from the CNC machine and are nickel plated.

The case is Grade 5 titanium. The aesthetics and function of the due ore raw embody the philosophy of Ludwig Oechslin and his watch brand, ochs und junior: an ingeniously simplified GMT consisting of just two extra modular parts driven by an ETA 2824-2 movement.

Reading the functions

First time zone

The hands display the first time zone.

Second time zone

The adjustable time zone disk displays the second time zone. If the second time zone is ahead of yours (for example, +3 hours), you adjust the time zone disk until it displays this number at 12 o’clock. If the second time zone is behind yours, you subtract from 12, and set the result at 12 o’clock.

Ludwig Oechslin replaced the standard ETA 2824-2 31-tooth date disk with a 48-tooth, user-adjustable time zone disk (pictured above).

The hands, indices, and Arabic numerals of the second time zone are in our signature oj blue (with Swiss Superluminova).

What was the motivation for the design?

Ludwig Oechslin wanted to be able to read both the current (home) time and a second time zone with a single glance. His moveable time zone disk can be quickly adjusted so that the difference between the two time zones is displayed in the opening at 12 o’clock. The hour hand then displays the time in both time zones.

The due ore uses an adjustable time zone disk to display two time zones with a single watch hand. The moveable time zone disk can be quickly adjusted so that the difference between the time zones is displayed in the 12 o’clock aperture with the hour hand displaying both time zones.

The due ore comes with an Enzian Ecopell leather strap, handmade by Sabina Brägger.
