Rado - DiaMaster Grande Seconde

Rado is adding two new timepieces to its DiaMaster Grande Seconde line, notable for its asymmetrical dial design, which features two stacked sub-dials, one for hours and minutes and the other for seconds.

The new models introduce Roman numerals and a nice sunray pattern in greyish brown or strong blue which frames the subdials. The colour of the dial is coordinated with brown or black leather straps for an elegant look.

The 43 mm case of the DiaMaster Grande Seconde is crafted from polished plasma high-tech ceramic, one of Rado's signature materials. To create it, finished white ceramic components are fired in a plasma oven, where gases activated at 20,000°C give rise to a metallic shine on the surface – without using any metal at all.

As a result, the DiaMaster Grande Seconde has the look of a classic metal wristwatch while offering the benefits of high-tech ceramic construction, including exceptional lightness (25% lighter than steel) and scratch resistance (five times harder than steel).

Rado’s ceramic is also hypoallergenic and comfortable to wear thanks to the capability of the material to quickly adapt to the temperature of the body.

The movement of choice is the automatic ETA 2899 beating at 4 Hz (28,800 vph) and offering 42 hours of power reserve.

Water resistant to 100 metres / 330 feet, both versions of the Rado DiaMaster Grande Seconde (ref. 657.0129.3.420 with blue dial and ref. 657.0129.3.431 in brown) have a retail price of Euro 2,950 / US$ 3,000. rado.com
