The Fratello × NOMOS Glashütte Weltzeit “Blue Panda” Limited Edition

Fratello proudly announces the second chapter of its adventure with German watchmakers NOMOS to bring you the Fratello × NOMOS Glashütte Weltzeit "Blue Panda". The watch has a gorgeous midnight blue dial with subtle orange accents and is limited to just 100 pieces worldwide.

Since its release in 2012, the NOMOS Zürich Weltzeit has been one of the German independent’s most sought-after models. After the record sellout success of our “Panda” in 2021, Fratello is reimagining this modern classic for a second time.

While it’s still the NOMOS Weltzeit we all know and love, the second Fratello Edition brings something new and unexpected to the noble Saxon brand’s Worldtime collection.

Firstly, this piece uses a midnight blue hue instead of black for the “panda” elements on the dial. Secondly, the “Blue Panda” Limited Edition employs a fluorescent orange seconds hand, which ties in with the home-time arrow at 3 o’clock.

Additionally, the home icon at 3 o'clock has changed. Due to popular demand and incessant pestering on our part, NOMOS has given us the windmill marker we all dreamed of, as a nod to our Dutch roots.

Measuring 39.9mm in diameter and sitting 10.9mm tall on the wrist the Weltzeit wears incredibly well on the wrist. The lug-to-lug is 49mm, and the case is topped by a gently domed sapphire crystal treated with an anti-reflective coating.

The In-house DUW 5201

The NOMOS Glashütte Weltzeit boasts a sapphire display case back, revealing the beautifully finished in-house DUW 5201 movement within. The DUW 5201 is an automatic caliber with an operating frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz) and a 42-hour power reserve.

A GMT watch for travelers

The Fratello × NOMOS Glashütte Weltzeit "Blue Panda" is a watch designed with travelers in mind but with a sportier edge than the previous "Black Panda" edition. The blue fabric strap complements the midnight blue hue on the dial and harmonizes with the subtle orange flashes. It works just as well with smart casual wear as it does with a suit, but it really comes into its own with a everyday, dressed-down ensemble.

The Weltzeit series is defined by its unusual take on the GMT complication. While the name literally means World Time, it's not a true world timer as not all 24 time zones are simultaneously displayed. Instead, we have an incredibly visual GMT complication allowing the wearer to track an additional time zone. The somewhat more graphical representation makes interpreting the information at a glance much more intuitive, thanks to the 24-hour home disc next to the handy little home (or in this case, a windmill!) icon at 3 o'clock.

How it works

The Fratello × NOMOS Glashütte Weltzeit "Blue Panda" is surprisingly simple to operate. When you first set up the watch, you need to align your preferred home city at the top of the dial. For example, if you were in the Hague, you would press the 2 o'clock pusher until "The Hague" clicks around to the top of the dial at 12 o'clock. You don't have to worry about the time at this point.

Next, you set the 24-hour disc using the crown pulled out to the first position. Once that is set to your home time, use the recessed button in the case band at 10 o'clock to advance the hour hand independently from the city ring, meaning you can set it to the same time as the 24-hour disc. That's it. Now you're ready to grab your passport and hit the road. When you're traveling, simply use the pusher to select your destination (or city that represents the time zone of your destination), and you're good to go!

The Fratello × NOMOS Glashütte Weltzeit “Blue Panda” will be available from 6 am CEST on Tuesday, September 27th. Limited to 100 pieces in total, 50 pieces will be made available on pre-order from September 20th to all people who signed up to the waitlist after the sellout of our previous NOMOS Weltzeit “Panda” edition from 2021.

The price is €4,620 including 21% Dutch VAT (€3,818.20 excluding VAT). VAT is automatically recalculated and updated at the point of checkout once shipping information is confirmed.
