Urban Jürgensen - Reference 2140 White Gold Black Dial

Founded in Copenaghen in 1773 and now based in Bienne/Biel, Urban Jürgensen celebrates its 245th anniversary at Baselworld 2018 with a new addition to its Jules Collection, the Reference 2140 in white gold and black dial.

Featuring the contemporary tapered lugs characterizing the Jules collection, this elegant timepiece with a monochrome look comes in a 40 mm white gold round case where convex and concave surfaces alternate.

Protected by a domed sapphire crystal, the hand finished guilloché dial is a work of art which alternates Grains d’orges and Guilloché Damier patterns. The guilloché patterns are carefully selected and scaled to ensure the right balance between grain size, type and complexity. Crafted from solid silver dial, each dial requires up to 700 operations and takes 2 full days of hand work to complete on a guilloché lathe.

These operations are carried out on special machines, some of which are over a century old.

The white gold arms of Urban Jürgensen hands are cut from solid white gold, manually finished to ensure a perfect shape and fit, and then diamond polished. Asymmetrical in their design, they are gently tapered towards the tip.

The new watch is powered by the in-house hand-wound Urban Jürgensen P4 Lever Escapement movement which beats at 3 Hz (21,600 vph) and features two barrels for a 72-hour power reserve. Finished to the ambitious Urban Jürgensen standards, the movement can be admired through the exhibition case-back.

A semi-matt black alligator leather strap secured by a personalized white gold C-buckle completes the look.

The price of the Urban Jürgensen Reference 2140 in white gold with black dial is Swiss Francs 28,900 before taxes. urbanjurgensen.com
