W&W 2022 Patek Philippe Ref. 5320G-011 Perpetual Calendar

A model of balance and legibility, the Reference 5320 with perpetual calendar was introduced in 2017 in a white gold case framing a cream-lacquered dial. Its vintage style is reinterpreted in a new white gold version with a rose-gilt opaline dial.

The hours and minutes are indicated by charcoal gray syringe-shaped gold hands and applied Arabic numerals, all with a white luminescent coating.

The sweep seconds hand points to a finely graduated scale at the periphery of the dial. The displays feature one of Patek Philippe’s signature perpetual calendar layouts, with a double in-line day/month aperture at 12 o’clock and a date indication by hand surrounding a moon-phase aperture at 6 o’clock.

This is complemented by two small round apertures: one for the day/night indication between 7 and 8 o’clock and the other for the leap-year display between 4 and 5 o’clock – both of which are useful when setting the calendar. The extremely precise moon-phase indication requires only a one-day correction every 122 year

The 40mm case is distinguished by its understated and timeless design, enhanced by refined details such as the three-tier lugs and the well-defined angles of the bezel and caseband: a real challenge in terms of manual polishing. The use of a prominent, slightly convex “box-type” sapphire crystal glass serves to achieve a case with remarkably slim flanks.
