Swiss and international watch brands are invited as of today to enter the 2020 edition of the GPHG, via a new digital platform. The cut-off date for entries is July 31, 2020.
The GPHG Academy created at the start of 2020 and uniting 350 industry stakeholders has kicked off this 20th edition by proposing several hundred models for the competition.
The Academy's proposals are currently being submitted to the watch brands concerned, which can decide whether or not to confirm the participation of the proposed watches and also enter other watches of their choice in the competition. In addition, all brands may choose to enter the competition spontaneously via the dedicated platform.
The 2020 list of award-winners will be revealed on Thursday November 12 at the 20th GPHG award ceremony. A new award introduced this year will enable the Academy and the Jury to honour a smartwatch.

With the creation of its new Academy, the GPHG is inaugurating a whole new selection, entry and voting process. Thereby globally developing its mission on behalf of watchmaking, it is establishing itself – more than ever this year – as an essential instrument in promoting the sector’s latest models.

To participate in the 2020 GPHG, watch brands are invited to submit their set of entries by July 31, 2020 at the very latest via the dedicated digital platform.
1. As of 2020, the Academy proposes watches for the competition. The watches proposed by the Academy are submitted to the brands concerned via the digital platform. The brands decide whether or not to confirm the participation of the proposed watches and may enter other watches for the competition (see the Academy Regulations). The GPHG contacts the brands concerned by the Academy’s submissions as soon as entries open and provides them with a platform access code.
2. All brands can also enter the competition spontaneously and submit watches via the digital platform. Those wishing to do so should send an email to email@example.com in order to obtain a platform access code.
The competition is open exclusively to watches launched on the market after May 2019 and at the latest by December 31, 2020.
Entry fees amount to CHF 500 per candidate watch. These costs will be invoiced upon receipt of the set of entries and must be settled within 30 days.
The 2020 categories and prizes are listed in the competition Rules, available on this site under “2020 EDITION”.
In case of nomination, a single flat-rate fee is payable for each watch nominated. This amounts to CHF 5,500 per watch and relates to the organisation of the competition and the exhibitions, as well as to the communication and marketing services devoted to the nominated watches.
Nominated watches must be available for the exhibitions and the jury meeting between October 12, 2020 and November 20, 2020 (November 30 for award-winners).
