The iconic Heuer Carrera chronograph was launched in 1963. In 2018, on occasion of Baselworld, TAG Heuer celebrates the 55th anniversary of the model unveiling the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph GMT, powered by the Heuer 02 manufacture movement and offering a GMT function, a very useful complication for business and leisure travelers.
The new model adopts the original "3-6-9" counter layout from the 1963 model. The chronograph minutes and hours are at 3 and 9 o'clock, with the permanent small second at 6 o'clock and the date window at 4:30, completed by the GMT function.
It is the first time that TAG Heuer has added this complication to its manufacture movement.
Adjustable with the crown, the second time zone is read using the lacquered red hand and the black and blue ceramic bezel, which has a 24-hour GMT scale.
To ensure optimum legibility, the GMT hand has been ingeniously mounted in a secondary position — between the hour and minute hands — enabling it to pass over the indexes and skim the GMT scale.
Beating at 28,800 vph with a power reserve of 75 hours, the Heuer 02 manufacture movement is visible through the skeleton dial and housed inside a solid 45 mm steel case offering water resistance to 100 metres / 330 feet.
The new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph GMT is available with rubber strap (ref. CBG2A1Z.FT6157) or steel bracelet (ref. CBG2A1Z.BA0658) with prices of Swiss Francs 5,750 / Euro 5,400 and Swiss Francs 5,900 / Euro 5,550 respectively. tagheuer.com
